Across Solihull West & Shirley, our independent businesses are the heartbeat of our high streets. From family-run cafes and trusted tradespeople to innovative start-ups and long-standing retailers, these enterprises do more than serve customers; they create jobs, sponsor local events, support charities, and help make our community such a fantastic place to live.
That is why I am delighted to launch my Independent Business of the Year Competition.

I know how challenging the past few years have been for small and independent firms. Rising costs, increased pressures and economic uncertainty have tested even the strongest enterprises. Yet time and again, our local businesses have shown determination, innovation, and community spirit. They deserve recognition.
