Summer jobs are often a young person's first step into the world of work. They build confidence, teach valuable skills, and help earn a bit of extra money.

But Labour's tax rises and new employment laws are making it harder for businesses to take on seasonal staff, putting thousands of those opportunities at risk.

We should be making it easier, not harder, for businesses to hire young people.

We would:

Cut taxes, scrap employment red tape and end attacks on hospitality and tourism;
Repeal working restrictions on Sundays so young people can choose to work when they want;
Relax the window for evening work to 9pm; and
Remove the need for red-tape permits to hire young people who deserve a chance to work.
