On Saturday 8th November 2025, the Solihull Model Railway Exhibition brought together enthusiasts, families, and visitors of all ages at St Mary’s House and the Scout Hut in Lyndon for a day that truly showcased the best of local creativity and community spirit.
The exhibition featured a series of beautifully crafted layouts, from finely detailed recreations of historic railway scenes to imaginative miniature worlds, each the result of countless hours of care and skill. It was a reminder of the extraordinary craftsmanship that thrives within our community and the dedication of those who bring these models to life.
Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst, Member of Parliament for Solihull West & Shirley, attended the exhibition and praised the event’s organisers and participants:
“The Solihull Model Railway Exhibition is a wonderful example of local pride and craftsmanship at its best. Each layout tells a story of patience, skill, and imagination. It’s a delight to see so many people, young and old, coming together to share in something so creative and so quintessentially British.”
The Solihull Model Railway Club, which organised the event, continues to nurture this enthusiasm year-round. The club meets every Thursday evening from 7.00pm to 10.00pm at the Scout Hut at St Mary’s Church, Hobs Moat Lane, and always welcomes new members with an interest in model railways and design.
Events such as this not only celebrate craftsmanship but also strengthen the ties that bind our local community together, something Solihull Borough can be truly proud of.
