Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst, Member of Parliament for Solihull West & Shirley, recently had the pleasure of attending a local cricket fixture at Earlswood Cricket Club, where the home side faced Moseley’s Second XI. As a keen cricket supporter himself, Neil welcomed the opportunity to see at first hand the vibrancy of grassroots sport within the constituency.
Earlswood Cricket Club has a long and distinguished history as part of the local community. For many years it has provided opportunities for players of all ages and abilities to enjoy the game of cricket, to develop their skills, and to share in the values of teamwork and sportsmanship that the sport represents. Its continued success is a testament to the commitment of the players, coaches, and supporters who give so much of their time and energy.
Speaking after the visit, Dr Shastri-Hurst said:
“It was a real pleasure to spend the afternoon at Earlswood Cricket Club watching their match against Moseley. Clubs like this play an important role in encouraging participation in sport, nurturing talent, and bringing people together through a shared passion for the game. My thanks to the players, coaches, and volunteers who make it all possible week after week. It even made me think about dusting off my cricket whites and turning my arm over again!”
