Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst, Member of Parliament for Solihull West & Shirley, has praised Newlands Bishop Farm for its outstanding work and transformative impact, particularly in supporting the local SEND community.
During a recent visit, Dr Shastri-Hurst toured The Roost, a purpose-built education and training centre which opened last year. The facility provides opportunities for adults with learning disabilities, equipping them with essential life skills, fostering confidence, and supporting them to realise their full potential.
This year marks a significant milestone for Newlands Bishop Farm as it celebrates its 30th anniversary as a charitable organisation serving Solihull and the surrounding areas. To commemorate the occasion, the charity is hosting a series of Corporate Social Responsibility events and community engagement activities throughout the year.
Speaking following his visit, Dr Shastri-Hurst said:
“I thoroughly enjoyed visiting Newlands Bishop Farm once more. It was an honour to attend the opening of The Roost last year, and I am heartened to see how it has continued to flourish as a nurturing, inclusive environment where individuals are empowered to thrive.
The Farm’s work supports adults with learning disabilities, from providing practical work experience in the canteen, to delivering classroom-based learning and vocational training, exemplifying the values of dignity, opportunity, and community.
As it celebrates 30 years of remarkable service, Newlands Bishop Farm stands as a shining example of the compassion, dedication, and community spirit that define the very best of Solihull. My sincere thanks go to all those who have made its success possible.”
