Colleges Week takes place between Monday 3rd and Friday 7th March, marking an annual national campaign designed to celebrate and showcase the invaluable contributions of further education colleges to individuals, communities, and the wider economy.
The Association of Colleges’ Beacon Award hosted their ceremony in College Week to recognise and celebrate innovative practices within the UK’s further education sector.
Solihull College were finalists for the Beacon Award, in the category of the College Engagement with Employers. At the awards ceremony, which was held on Monday 3 March 2025, Sandra White, Nicky Haines and Sophie Jolly met with local Member of Parliament, Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst, in the House of Commons.
Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst MP said:
I was delighted to welcome staff from Solihull College and University Centre to Parliament, celebrating their success in equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed for the jobs of the future. Solihull College works hand-in-hand with local employers and plays a vital role in driving local economic growth and prosperity.
In recent weeks, I have worked closely with Solihull College, and I am looking forward to my jobs fair being hosted at their Blossomfield Campus on Friday 25th April.
