Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst, Member of Parliament for Solihull West & Shirley, has formally launched a new work experience programme aimed at broadening opportunities for young people across his constituency.
Committed to improving life chances, Dr Shastri-Hurst welcomed a group of local students to his offices in both Westminster and Solihull. Participants gained first-hand experience of the responsibilities of an MP, including parliamentary procedure, community engagement, and scrutinising public policy.
Speaking following the launch, Dr Shastri-Hurst said:
I am delighted to offer this opportunity to ambitious young people from Solihull West & Shirley who are interested in learning more about our democratic system. Through this programme, we aim to deepen students’ understanding of politics while equipping them with skills and confidence as they consider the next steps in their education or careers.
Students and schools wishing to enquire about future placements in 2026 are invited to contact Dr Shastri-Hurst’s office via: [email protected]
