Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst MP recently visited Blythe Rose Specialist Dementia Care Home in Blythe Valley Park, Shirley, where he was delighted to meet residents, family members, and staff.
Opened in 2022, Blythe Rose provides specialist dementia care in small household-style communities, each designed to meet different stages and challenges of the condition. The home features modern facilities including a cinema room, coffee bar, and a wellness suite, all aimed at creating a safe and supportive environment.
The visit provided an opportunity to hear first-hand about the experiences of those living with dementia and the vital role care homes play in supporting individuals and their loved ones. Dr Shastri-Hurst also spoke with staff about the challenges and rewards of delivering specialist dementia care and the importance of ensuring services are equipped to meet the needs of the community.
Speaking after the visit, Dr Shastri-Hurst said:
"I thoroughly enjoyed spending time at Blythe Rose, listening to residents, their families, and the staff who care for them. Dementia touches many lives, and it is essential that we continue to support both those living with it and the professionals who provide such dedicated care."
