Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst MP recently visited the Norton Motorcycle factory in Solihull to see first-hand the progress on the production of Norton’s exciting new range of motorcycles, backed by significant investment from TVS, the third-largest motorcycle producer in the world. The visit offered an opportunity to witness the blend of cutting-edge engineering and proud British heritage that defines Norton, one of the UK’s most iconic motorcycle brands.

Founded in 1898 by James Lansdowne Norton, Norton has long been a symbol of British innovation and racing success, from the early ‘Energette’ motorcycles to triumphs at the Isle of Man TT and the introduction of the revolutionary Featherbed frame. With classics like the Norton Commando cementing its reputation, the brand’s history is inseparable from Britain’s wider engineering legacy.

Today, Norton is entering a new chapter. The modern range includes the Manx R, a high-performance flagship superbike; the Manx, designed for exhilarating street riding; and the Atlas and Atlas GT, middleweight adventure and touring bikes built for versatility and comfort. These models mark Norton’s resurgence under TVS, combining the brand’s legendary design DNA with contemporary technology to deliver motorcycles that are both a tribute to the past and a vision for the future.

Commenting on the visit, Neil said:

"Visiting Norton’s Solihull factory was inspiring. This is where British motorcycle heritage meets modern engineering. The team is doing incredible work to bring the next generation of Nortons to life, blending the legacy we all know and love with cutting-edge technology. Supporting iconic British manufacturers like Norton is vital for jobs, innovation, and showcasing the world-class skill of British engineers."

The visit highlights the importance of nurturing British manufacturing and engineering, ensuring that historic brands like Norton continue to thrive on the global stage while producing premium motorcycles from British soil.
