Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst, Member of Parliament for Solihull West & Shirley, was delighted to attend the inaugural meeting of the Solihull Memory Café at Solihull Indoor Bowls Club.
The new initiative provides a safe, welcoming space for people living with dementia and their families to come together, participate in activities, and enjoy companionship over tea and conversation.
Dr Shastri-Hurst praised the organisers and volunteers for their commitment in setting up the café, recognising the important role such community-led initiatives play in supporting those affected by dementia.
Speaking after the event, Dr Shastri-Hurst said:
“It was a privilege to be attend the launch of the Solihull Memory Café. This is a fantastic initiative which will make a real difference for individuals and families living with dementia. There was a real sense of warmth and support on display at the Indoor Bowls Club. I look forward to seeing the café go from strength to strength.”
The Memory Café meets every Thursday between 1030 and 1230, offering friendship, activities, and signposting to advice and support for those who attend.
