Solihull West & Shirley MP, Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst, has praised the tremendous success of St Alphege Church’s first ever Eco Fun Day, which brought together families, local residents, and volunteers for a day of celebrating nature, creativity, and community spirit.
The churchyard was alive with activity as children built nesting boxes and bug hotels, took part in lively bug hunts, scattered wildflower seeds, and decorated colourful prayer stones. The event provided a hands-on introduction to nature and sustainability, with families working together to explore how small actions can make a big difference to the world around them.
Speaking after the event, Dr Shastri-Hurst MP said:
It was a joy to see so many young people taking part with such enthusiasm – learning about the environment, enjoying the outdoors, and spending quality time with their families. Events like this show the power of community to inspire the next generation to take pride in the world we share. My thanks go to the team at St Alphege Church for organising such a meaningful and memorable day.
The Eco Fun Day is the latest initiative from St Alphege Church to bring local families together through shared values and environmental awareness.
