Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst MP questioned the Lord Chancellor at the Justice Select Committee yesterday on the proposal to curtail jury trials. Neil's focus is on the evidence underpinning the policy, probing the Government’s impact assessment, the modelling behind the decision, and the conclusions of the Sir Brian Leveson report. While raising concerns about the risk of further disincentivising entry to the criminal Bar and the long-term consequences for the justice system.
