Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst MP joined the local Solihull Men Walking and Talking group for their regular evening walk from the gates of Malvern and Brueton Parks, supporting efforts to improve men’s mental health through community connection.
The group is run by Danny Smith and meets every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 6:45pm for a 7:00pm walk, offering a relaxed and welcoming space for men to come together, get active, and talk openly - or simply walk alongside others.
During the walk, Dr Shastri-Hurst spoke with participants about the positive impact the group is having locally, helping men to build friendships, share experiences, and support one another in an informal setting.
Speaking afterwards, Dr Shastri-Hurst said:
“Joining the Men Walking and Talking group at Malvern and Brueton Parks was a genuinely uplifting experience. There is something powerful about the simplicity of walking side by side and having the chance to talk - or just listen.
“This group is making a real difference in our community by providing a supportive environment where men can connect and know they are not alone.”
Men Walking and Talking groups are part of a wider initiative aimed at tackling the stigma around men’s mental health and encouraging open, everyday conversations.
Dr Shastri-Hurst added:
“I would like to thank the organisers and volunteers who make these walks happen week in, week out. Their commitment is helping to build stronger, healthier communities locally.”
Men of all ages and backgrounds are welcome to attend. No booking is required, just turn up at the gates of Malvern and Brueton Parks at 6:45pm on a Tuesday or Thursday evening.
