Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst, MP for Solihull West & Shirley, enjoyed a visit to the Solihull Fire Station Open Day, joining local families for an afternoon of displays, demonstrations, and community activities.
The event showcased the important work of West Midlands Fire Service, giving residents the opportunity to meet local firefighters, learn more about their vital role in keeping the community safe, and enjoy a range of family-friendly attractions.
During his visit, Dr Shastri-Hurst met with Chief Fire Officer, Simon Tuhill, to discuss the challenges currently faced by the Fire Service during the spell of exceptionally hot weather. Also attending was the Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Sardul Marwa, who was present in his formal capacity as the Borough's First Citizen.
Commenting after the event, Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst MP said:
"The Solihull Fire Station Open Day certainly didn't disappoint. There were some brilliant displays and plenty for families to enjoy.
"It was a pleasure to meet, once again, Chief Fire Officer Simon Tuhill and discuss the pressures the recent heatwave has placed on the Fire Service and to thank him, and all those serving with West Midlands Fire Service, for everything they do to keep our communities safe. It was also great to see so many local residents turning out to support the event."
