Dr Neil Shastri‑Hurst, MP for Solihull West & Shirley, once again joined residents across the borough in solemn commemoration of Remembrance Sunday. As a former Medical Officer with the Royal Army Medical Corps, Dr Shastri-Hurst paused alongside members of the community at each two-minute silence, honouring those who have given their lives in service of our country.
“Today we stood together in respectful silence to acknowledge the sacrifice of others. Remembrance is a moment for us all: to reflect, to honour, and to reaffirm the values for which so many gave their tomorrow for our today.”
Schools, local organisations, veterans, uniformed groups and community members gathered at services across Solihull West & Shirley, including at St Alphege Church, Solihull and St James’ Church, Shirley, where wreath-laying ceremonies and poppy tributes underlined the enduring gratitude of the borough. Dr Shastri-Hurst also extended his thanks to the Royal British Legion and all the volunteers and organisers who made today’s observances possible.
In this 2025 Act of Remembrance, Solihull Borough reaffirmed its commitment to honouring the fallen, supporting our veterans and maintaining the legacy of service and sacrifice at the heart of our community.
