Recent decisions by the Mayor of the West Midlands have led to reductions in local bus services and increased fares – changes that are already being felt by communities across our region.
Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst MP is committed to protecting reliable and affordable public transport for constituents. He is holding the Mayor to account for these decisions and is actively campaigning to improve local bus services.
The Mayor has now confirmed that Bus Franchising will go ahead. This means Transport for West Midlands will take over responsibility for setting routes and awarding contracts to bus operators.
Dr Shastri-Hurst will continue to press for a system that puts passengers first: ensuring better access, greater reliability, and fairer fares for everyone in our community.
Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst MP said:
There have been a series of recent announcements relating to local bus travel, including bus fare rises and the scrapping of certain routes in Solihull, which have proved to be unwelcome news for many of my constituents in Solihull West & Shirley.
I am consulting my constituents and asking for their feedback on our new bus services. Please complete my survey, to let me know your views.
